Tell guests no kids at wedding

According to "Modern Wedding", there are several ways to address the issue of not wanting children at the wedding. On the invitation or RSVP card, you can write:

*No children
*Adults only
*Strictly no children please
*Adult wedding and reception
*Please respect our wishes for a child-free reception
*Adult only affair

While some may find it rude, it really is your call whether children should or should not be invited to the wedding and reception. Often, merely addressing the invitation to the adults only is too subtle and may not convey the message that adults only are preferred. "Adults only" weddings and receptions work best with families who are local and baby sitters are available.

If you would only like to allow certain children to the wedding and reception, those from the immediate family, for example, that is perfectly acceptable. When addressing the invitation, the child's name goes below the parents if they are less than 18 years of age. Those over the age of 18 should receive a separate invitation. If you want to allow children at the ceremony but not the reception, you could state "Children welcome at the ceremony only".

Some venues have restrictions on children attending, so this takes the burden off you; if you are considering providing child care, you can call the parents of young children and let them know. Blush Events Austin www.blusheventsaustin.com has several reputable child care providers that we work with for child care at weddings.

While you may have covered all your bases, there may still be parents who show up with young children; best option is to remain courteous and make the best of the situation.
