Event (Wedding) Management vs. Day of Coordinator
Many of us in the wedding industry have decided to change our title from "Day of Coordinator" to Event (Wedding) Management for several reasons, the most important being that Day of Coordinator is a misnomer and in no way describes the type and amount of work involved in planning and executing a wedding or special event that fulfills the hopes and dreams of the couple or client. We have had clients ask us if we can "show up on the day of the wedding and run things". This is a recipe for disaster. During the planning process, we at Blush Events Austin gather copies of the clients' vendor contracts, check for accuracy of dates and locations, check for accuracy of rental items (sizes, colors, etc), take two separate trips to the venue with the clients, keep track of the client's budget, send out "to do" lists of items requiring action, provide a preferred vendor list and make recommendations as requested. We are available for phone chats, trouble shooting and general assistance with all aspects of the wedding or event. Blush Events Austin will schedule a timeline meeting which covers every detail of the event day, provide a detailed timeline to all vendors, follow up with vendors to confirm dates and times and direct the rehearsal. It can take as many as 80 hours to fulfill these actions, so to categorize a wedding coordinator as a "day of" person does not begin to describe all the services we provide. We hope this clears up a common source of confusion and helps our clients understand the value and importance of hiring an experienced Event Manager.
